About Us

TravelWise is a Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) initiative that invites Utahns to rethink their trip and use alternatives to driving alone.

Since inception, the heart of the TravelWise program has been centered around reducing single occupant vehicle trips, by encouraging Utahns to rethink their trip, and use other travel options such as riding public transit, walking, biking, vanpooling, carpooling, and other trip reduction strategies such as trip chaining.

Now, nearly 15 years later, UDOT has embraced an All User mindset to transportation decision making and is committed to creating a more safe, reliable, and accessible transportation system for everyone. The focus of TravelWise has expanded to ensure all Utahns have access to a variety of travel options and the program continues to promote alternatives to single-occupant vehicle travel. As everyone in Utah, from children to aging seniors to those with disabilities, can travel where they want to go in a comfortable, safe, efficient, and convenient way, quality of life improves and people become more connected to each other and their communities.
