My church group has activities and gatherings on a regular basis. When activities are more than a few miles away, we have a designated place where we meet to carpool. This way, when it seems reasonable to organize a carpool, all we have to do is announce what time everyone will be meeting at the parking lot and people can then choose to meet up or go on their own. Having an established meeting place has been a really effective and simple way to form carpools.
